Project Overview //
West Kirby Grammar School has recently undergone an extensive fenestration refurbishment carried out by SEH Commercial bringing the ageing building into an exemplar school to meet the needs of students and the wider community for years to come. The school has been a selective state grammar school for girls for over 100 years and is situated in West Kirby on the Wirral Peninsula. It now operates with academy status and the school currently has 1182 students, of whom most are girls with boys only being admitted in the sixth form.
The extensive refurbishment project of the school buildings focused on three main areas of the school; the main building, the Maths and Science block and the Easedale Sixth Form block.
AL UK white aluminium windows and doors were fitted with solar control, self insulated toughened glass for their outstanding thermal qualities and noise attenuation qualities. White Georgian bars were fitted to match the old windows and doors and to suit the overall aesthetics of the existing school building.

The main considerations of any school refurbishment will emphasise on cost control balanced against the aspiration to achieve the highest quality possible. We specified AL UK to achieve this and delivered an effective solution to their requirements.
The initial installation went to plan, however we did have a couple of issues with phase two which caused us some unforeseen delays. The problems were overcome and the job is now complete and it is looking really good and we are very pleased with the end result. The reactive blue glass finish almost looks like a mirror and is definitely an enhancement to the school.
