Felixstowe Pier

Project Overview //

Originally constructed in 1905, Felixstowe Pier has been part of the Suffolk coastline for 112 years. In years gone by it was the UK’s longest pier and was home to an electric tramway, in addition to being a stop for the Belle Paddle Steamers operating between Great Yarmouth and London. After the second world war, the majority of the pier was demolished and has since survived as a low key entertainment centre. Now undergoing a much welcome regeneration scheme the pier is being redeveloped into a state of the art entertainment centre.

SEH Commercial were contracted to supply and install aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling to the new building which includes a cafe/ bar with al fresco dining, bowling, modern food outlets, and a family entertainments centre. The new look pier also features a boardwalk for promenading around the new building over the beach and sea.

Sapa thermally broken commercial doors were installed with antifingertrap vents, concealed closers, hook locks and pad handles. In addition to the non thermal commercial sliding doors, double fire exit doors were fitted to the side walls. The extensive curtain walling fitted to the front façade provides ample natural light but also is an important part of the new look design displaying it’s front vinyl mural. Internally glazed serving hatches were fitted to the kitchen areas.
