SEH Commercial has secured Phase 1 of a contract to refurbish over 647 properties across the Ashmole Estate in Lambeth near Clapham, part of the Rydon Maintenance Ltd contract for end client, the Metropolitan Housing Trust (MHT).
MHT is one of the largest housing associations in London and the south-east, delivery property management, refurbishment, regeneration and support services to over 70,000 customers. With over 18,000 homes under its responsibility across London, MHT London is part of the Metropolitan Housing Partnership, a leading UK social housing and regeneration group.
SEH Commercial will replace existing aged windows with its own state of the art PVC-u, Aluminium and Timber frames, all part of a drive to improve the living environments of residents by increasing energy efficiency levels across the estate, reducing sound transfer and upgrading security as MHT London invests heavily in the community to improve residents’ homes and the surrounding environment.
SEH Commercial is a vastly experienced property refurbishment specialist and has completed successful installations across London. Having secured the contract, SEH Commercial scheduled a survey timetable to take in 6 properties per day starting at the end of February. The installations will commence in April and it is planned to have the project completed by the end of the year.
The contract with Rydon Maintenance, itself a successful construction, maintenance, investment and management group operating throughout southern England, represents a significant partnership for SEH Commercial and the SEH Commercial team are looking forward to working with all the parties involved for the long term.
MHT London awarded Rydon the £20m refurbishment contract at the Ashmole Estate, located adjacent to the KIA Oval Cricket grounds and close to the River Thames, in 2011. SEH Commercial’s window refurbishment project will be part of a programme which will see Rydon refit tenants’ homes with new kitchens & bathrooms and will be over-cladding two tower blocks and providing a new district heating system over the next year and a half.
Glen Swatman, managing director of SEH Commercial: “We are delight to have this opportunity to work with Rydons on a contract which my team has had much involvement in the past and we are looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
